Hilliers Garden Centre
Growing success of Hillier’s new-look Garden Centre
It takes a great deal of confidence to knock down a successful retail nursery and start again.
Hillier Garden Centres, who have 14 garden centres across Southern England and the Midlands, invested £3 million in a new eco-friendly Garden Centre in Eastbourne. Within a few weeks, gone were the 1950s buildings and in its place an airy centre emerged.
Increase in sales
Salepoint supplied and fitted shopfittings in line with distinctly defined areas of the building . Wide aisles, high ceilings and cream and timber backings to the shopfittings make the interior less regimented. Each section has a subtle difference in floor coverings and fittings, designed to help customers navigate their way through the centre with ease. Since the new centre opened sales have trebled compared to the previous business there. Manager Glyn Webster said: “The layout and merchandising has worked out very well and that has been reflected in the sales which are already outstripping those at our 13 other Garden Centres.”
