Achieving expansion plans at strukta
Salepoint’s experience helped convince strukta to change the layout of their Bournemouth store to open up display space.
Standing out from the crowd
strukta Group, the specialist builders’ merchants in southern England are standing out from the crowd. Their culture is founded on willingness, honesty, obedience, loyalty and excellence which ensures the customer always comes first. That commitment begins with a unique opening time of 6.30am and a free cup of fresh bean2cup coffee.
The group was formed in 2013 following the merger of Southern Building Supplies of Salisbury and Coastline Building Products of Portsmouth.
Counter re-positioned to encourage self-selection
Shopfitting experts Salepoint worked with the company in the early days and were brought in again when the newly founded group began their expansion plan with a new branch in Bournemouth. Salepoint’s experience helped convince strukta to change the layout of the store, putting the counter further into the shop to encourage more self-selection and open up a much larger area for display. The work made full use of the group’s new branding, featuring their green and dark blue colours and logo.
Trebling the display space by converting the warehouse
Repositioning the counter worked and the group soon realised the sales potential if they re-designed the Portsmouth store by converting much of the large warehouse there into a shop. Again, Salepoint advised on the layout, moving the counter to the back of the shop and making extensive use of the company colours in shopfittings. The new design has trebled the amount of display space and resulted in significant growth.
Murray Moggach, Trade Store Director, said; ‘Having a long, established relationship with Salepoint has great advantages. The company understands our goals very well and is able to provide invaluable advice to support our overriding vision that is very dear to us.’
Creating a smart, bright appearance
Still managed by the original family owners, strukta has continued to grow apace. They have added Advance Fixings, based in Taunton, to the group, and in October opened another Trade Store at Chandler’s Ford, near Eastleigh, Hampshire. Salepoint were again brought in. The company’s design expertise, perfected over the years of working together, once again proved important.
This site required a large amount of long-span racking for big and bulky supplies. All the beams and frames were supplied in the group’s colours, with laminated fascia panels in green. The smart, bright appearance makes a change from the usual dull colours more typical in the trade.
Meanwhile at another acquisition, this time in Biggleswade, Bedfordshire, Salepoint provided specialist stands for nails and other types of fixings.
With a winning formula, strukta have potential to grow and grow, helped at every turn by Salepoint.
